Today's high school sports events have been postponed due to the heat warning that continues for our area.

The SD&G high school tennis championships were to be contested today in Cornwall. The matches will instead be played Oct. 3.

Speaking for the SDGAA, Jamie Carr explains, "We are concerned about the safety of our students as the temperature is expected to be close to 40 with humidity. Next week looks much better. Sorry for the inconvenience I know this causes but the safety of our athletes is the number one concern."

The other impacted event is the kickoff to the junior football six-on-six season. It was to take place at Glengarry DHS in Alexandria.

The convenor has revised the schedule to move these games to Monday, Oct. 16. The Gaels will instead kick off their season on Oct. 4 in Carleton Place.
