Missing woman's body found

The body of a 26-year-old South Glengarry woman who was reported missing October 11 was found today (October 13).

The case is now being treated as a homicide.

The body of Emilie Maheu, who was last seen leaving work October 11 at 1 p.m. in Alexandria, was found in South Glengarry at 11:30 a.m. A post-mortem examination will be conducted later this week at Ottawa General Hospital. 17-year-old dies in 401 crash

A 17-year-old Glengarry District High School student died when the car he was driving collided with a tractor-trailer on Highway 401 near Morrisburg Wednesday.

Joshua Seguin was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident which occurred at 9:37 a.m.

He was driving eastbound in the westbound lane of the 401 when his passenger vehicle collided with the truck, reports the Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police detachment.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

Man killed in head-on collision

A 69-year-old Gatineau man was killed and a 34-year-old Cornwall woman seriously injured in a head-on collision on County Road 43 near Avonmore January 23 at 10 p.m. The man was driving a passenger vehicle westbound when it crossed into the eastbound lane and struck another passenger vehicle. The lone occupant of the westbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was transported to the hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries. Names are being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

61-year-old dies in rollover

A 61-year-old Cornwall man was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident which occurred at 4:30 p.m. Monday when a vehicle went out of control and rolled over on the McConnell Avenue off-ramp on Highway 401 near Cornwall.

The victim has been identified as Edmund Poirier.

The Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police detachment and OPP technical collision investigators continue the investigation.

Reward offered in woman's death

The Ontario government continues to offer a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Jessica Godin, 18, whose body was found in a ditch on Du Parc Street in Fournier September 24, 2011.

The post-mortem examination indicated that the injuries she sustained and the location where her body was found were consistent with being struck by an eastbound vehicle which would have been travelling on Du Parc Street in Fournier.

Body of missing man found

A search for a missing Alfred-Plantagenet man ended at 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, when the body of Gary Foster, 78, was found by an Ontario Provincial Police canine unit in a densely wooded area near Curran.

He had been reported missing August 15.

The Office of the Chief Coroner attended the scene and a post mortem will be scheduled to determine the cause of death.

The OPP would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance in this matter.                          

Pedestrian killed after being struck by train

A 16-year-old boy from Dorval was killed Monday after he was struck by a VIA Rail train while walking on the CN Railway track on Celtic Lane in Lancaster. Another pedestrian, a 15-year-old boy from South Glengarry, was transported to hospital by paramedics with minor injuries.

The Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police detachment is investigating the accident which occurred at 7:55 p.m.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

Cornwall woman identified as accident victim

The woman killed in an accident on Highway 401 near Long Sault this morning has been identified as Kristine Cadieux, 32, of Cornwall.

The crash occurred at 7 a.m. when a westbound passenger van collided with a westbound car causing the van to roll over and the car to enter the median. The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene while a male passenger, 50, also from Cornwall, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The  20-year-old St-Huber man who was driving the car suffered minor injuries.

A woman has been killed in an accident on Highway 401, east of the Moulinette Road exit, near Long Sault.

The crash occurred at 7 a.m. when a westbound passenger van collided with a westbound car causing the van to roll over and the car to enter the median. The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene while a male passenger was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The man driving the car suffered minor injuries. Names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A section of Highway 401 (westbound lanes only), between Brookdale Avenue and Moulinette Road is closed to traffic with indicated Emergency Detour Routes (EDR) in place.
